Shining Pokémon were the TCG's first alternate-color 'shiny' cards — introduced with two cards in Neo Revelation, then expanded to eight secret rares in Neo Destiny, numbered past the end of the set. Shining Charizard was the one everyone wanted, gold-trimmed and off-palette, and clean copies were scarce from the start. High-grade examples still trade for thousands, second only to Base Set among vintage Charizards.
